2026: The Year of JOY & VITALITY

In 2025 I created a vision board to put the year ahead of me in perspective and to remind me what was on the horizon for my life. It seems that each new year, there is a consensus that resolving to grow and change in the new year yields barren fields, but the way that I pursued my 2025 vision board resulted in accomplishing every goal that I set out to. Let me show you how I did it, so you too can make and accomplish your vision for 2026 (and it’s not too late!)

Reflect

Take time to sit alone with yourself and with the Lord, reflecting upon the previous year and your feelings toward it. Here are some questions to get you started: Did it leave you feeling unsatisfied? If you had to tell the story of your past year like it was a chapter of your life, what type of message would it convey? Does this past year add to or subtract from God’s plan for your life? As you reflect, begin to point out what aspects contributed to your regrets or negative feelings. Who or what made you feel this way? We want to take note of these things so we can consider casting them aside in pursuit of holier and happier days ahead. Begin to point out what actions, people, or prayers contributed to the positive aspects of your year? We want to take account of these actions and people so we can be inspired to incorporate them into our year ahead.

Imagine

Now imagine how your perfect year ahead would look. What would you be proud to accomplish? What milestones, no matter how small, would fulfill you? What steps in your faith-life can bring you closer in alignment with God and yourself? Imagine this perfect year and note what those aspects include: maybe it is more time with those that you love and inspire you to become holier or maybe it is experiencing God’s created world intimately. Allow yourself to dream.

Visualize

Now begin to create your vision board! I recommend using Canva or any similar design tool. Begin collecting photos that reflect your imagined perfect year. What are the accessible accomplishments in your year ahead that also contribute to fulfilling God’s unique design for your life? Source photos from Pinterest or general search engines that visualize your imagination and begin layering them onto your board. What are words or phrases that you want to hear and focus on in the next year? Include those on your board to remind you of what you imagined.

Remind

Now that your vision board has come to life with sights, words, and goals for your coming year, I recommend saving your vision board to a place you will see it every day like your computer screen or phone background or even printing it out and having it somewhere in your room or home. Every time you see your vision board, look at one of the elements you curated and think of a small step that you can take each day toward accomplishing that vision. If you do this every day, you will accomplish your vision.

Vision boards for our lives are not a manifestation of the future, they are a blueprint and reminder for us about the ways we want to take full advantage of our one life that God has given us because when the time comes for us to meet the Lord, we want to look back and see how we have enabled God’s unique design for our lives to play out year by year. God has given us life because there is beauty in all of it, especially if we remember to live it actively rather than passively.
